Project Information:

A preliminary fall hazard site survey of several roof tops on the UNC-CH campus by, Miller-FAS Engineering Services, an outside consulting engineering firm, was prepared at the request of the UNC-CH Department of Environment, Health and Safety . The purpose of the study was to review and analyze typical fall hazards and recommend general solutions to the problems noted on the sample group of buildings. This preliminary study is provided here for reference. Also, UNC Design and Construction Guidelines for Employee Fall Protection are provided for easy reference.

Scope of Work

Design, provide, and install a roof fall protection system for the following buildings all of whom have steep slope slate roofs:

1. Hanes Hall
2. Gardner Hall
3. Manning Hall
4. Murphey Hall
5. Saunders Hall
6. Steele Building
