Project Information:

This building consists of four wings built in 1918, 1925, 1927, and 1960 respectively (99,862 sqft floor area). The exterior masonry and pre-cast decorative stone work (40,000 sqft wall area) of the three older wings need to be re-pointed and in some cases removed and reset. The steel masonry anchors are corroding and delaminating, forcing the pre-cast decorative elements to be dislocated. These units will need to be removed and reset with new anchorage systems.

If these repairs/replacements are not made, then water will continue to infiltrate. As the water infiltration continues, sister component damage continues. This ongoing damage makes it more and more difficult to locate and repair leaks. The water intrusion adversely affects the research and support functions contained in this building and consume scarce maintenance resources to stretch these systems' lives to the maximum and to continue to make water damage repairs to the building interior .
