Project Information:

The Terne Metal roof on this building was originally installed in 1907. The protective black coating has peeled off large areas exposing bare metal which has resulted in large rusted areas. The roof has completely deteriorated on both the main section and the auditorium east wing totaling 20,710 sqft of roof area. A new historically accurate copper standing seam roof should be installed on the whole building.

If these repairs/replacements are not made then water will continue to infiltrate. As the water infiltration continues, sister component damage will accelerate. This on going damage makes it more and more difficult to locate and repair leaks. The water intrusion adversely affects the research and support functions contained in this building and consume scarce maintenance resources to stretch these systems' lives to the maximum and to continue to make water damage repairs to the building interior .
