Capital Improvements Program

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will double its construction spending to $1.1 billion over the next eight-years of which $510 million will be funded from the Higher Education Bond. Forty nine percent of this bond money will be spent for renovations and/or replacement space of existing facilities. Seventeen percent will renovate and upgrade utilities infrastructure while thirty four percent will be spent on new construction.

The Bulldozer of Progress

Due to the complex nature and the diverse clientele of the University, Facilities Planning with the aid of the Eva Klein report and in concert with the administration has laid out a plan for improving the campus. This web page is intended to advise the campus community of the plans and the progress that we are making. Many projects are dependent on each other and that dependency is built into the plan. Over the next few months, we hope to expand the site to cover all aspects of the process.

Please let us know your thoughts or comments on what you would like to see on the site.

"You, the voters, have unlocked this university's future by supporting the bond referendum. It is a tremendous investment in education, and it will return benefits to our state for decades to come"

- James Moeser, University chancellor
